Description

Cherry Snowball Cookies are melt-in-your-mouth treats filled with buttery dough, sweet-tart maraschino cherries, mini chocolate chips, and finely ground pecans.


Ingredients

  • 1.5 cups Butter, room temperature (salted or unsalted)
  • 0.75 cup Powdered sugar (for dough)
  • 0.5 cup Granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1.5 tsp Almond extract
  • 1.5 tsp Vanilla extract
  • 0.5 tsp Cherry extract or emulsion
  • 0.5 cup Maraschino cherries, drained & finely chopped
  • 1 cup Pecans, finely ground
  • 4.5 cups All-purpose flour
  • 0.75 cup Mini chocolate chips
  • 1.5 cups Powdered sugar (for rolling)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, beat butter, 0.75 cup powdered sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy (about 5 minutes).
  2. Mix in salt, almond extract, vanilla extract, and cherry extract.
  3. Drain and finely chop maraschino cherries, then gently fold them into the dough.
  4. Add finely ground pecans and mix until combined.
  5. Gradually add flour, 1/2 cup at a time, until dough forms.
  6. Fold in mini chocolate chips with a wooden spoon.
  7. Chill dough for 30–60 minutes.
  8. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  9. Roll dough into 1.5 tablespoon-sized balls and place on lined baking sheets.
  10. Bake 15–17 minutes or until bottoms are lightly golden.
  11. Roll warm cookies in powdered sugar, allow to cool, then roll again for a snowy finish.
