Description
This lovely Cherry Earl Grey Milk Tea is a comforting and flavorful recipe combining the citrusy notes of Earl Grey with sweet cherries, creamy milk, and a hint of vanilla.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 Earl Grey tea bag (or 1 tsp loose leaf Earl Grey tea)
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup milk (any type: dairy, almond, oat, etc.)
- 4–5 cherries, fresh, frozen, or canned (pitted and halved)
- 1–2 tsp vanilla syrup (adjust to taste)
- 1 cinnamon stick (optional)
- Ice (optional for iced version)
Instructions
- In a small saucepan, add the cherries and about 1/2 cup of water. Simmer on low heat for 3-5 minutes until the cherries soften and release their juices. Gently mash the cherries to help extract more flavor. Then add the cinnamon stick and steep for an additional 5 minutes.
- While the cherries are simmering, bring 1/2 cup of water to a boil. Steep the Earl Grey tea in the hot water for 3-5 minutes, depending on your preferred strength. Remove the tea bag or strain the loose leaves.
- Pour the milk into the saucepan with the softened cherries and cinnamon. Then heat gently, stirring occasionally until the milk is warmed through.
- Stir in 1-2 teaspoons of vanilla syrup into the milk and cherry mixture. You can adjust the sweetness to taste.
- Pour the brewed Earl Grey tea into a cup, then strain the warm milk and cherry mixture into the same cup, pressing on the cherries to release all the juice. Stir well to combine.
- For an extra touch, add some foamed milk on top or garnish with a fresh cherry or a sprinkle of cinnamon on top.
