Description
A quick and flavorful weeknight meal featuring a perfectly seared Cajun-seasoned steak served with creamy, cheesy Alfredo tortellini.
Ingredients
- 1 lb sirloin steak, 1-inch thick
- 2 tbsp Cajun seasoning
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 4 tbsp unsalted butter
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 9 oz cheese tortellini
- 1 tbsp chopped parsley (optional)
Instructions
- Pat the steak dry and season both sides with Cajun seasoning.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
- Sear the steak for 4-5 minutes per side for medium-rare. Remove from skillet and let rest.
- In the same skillet, melt butter over medium-low heat. Add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1 minute.
- Slowly stir in heavy cream, Parmesan cheese, salt, and pepper. Simmer gently for 2 minutes, then reduce heat to low and stir until smooth.
- Cook tortellini according to package directions. Drain.
- Add the cooked tortellini to the Alfredo sauce and toss to coat.
- Slice the rested steak against the grain.
- Serve the sliced Cajun garlic butter steak over the cheesy Alfredo tortellini. Garnish with parsley if desired.
Notes
- For less spice, reduce the amount of Cajun seasoning.
- If heavy cream is unavailable, half-and-half can be used, but simmer longer to thicken.
- Portobello mushrooms can be substituted for steak for a vegetarian option.
- Use gluten-free tortellini for a gluten-free version.
- Fresh garlic is recommended for the best flavor in the sauce.
- Reserve some pasta water to thin the sauce if needed.
- Slice steak against the grain for maximum tenderness.
- Cook the sauce over low heat to prevent the cheese from clumping.
