Ingredients

  • Pasta (e.g., penne, rigatoni): 1 pound
  • Ground beef: 1 pound
  • Onion: 1 medium, chopped
  • Garlic: 2 cloves, minced
  • Tomato sauce: 24 ounces
  • Ricotta cheese: 15 ounces
  • Egg: 1 large
  • Parmesan cheese: 1/2 cup, grated
  • Mozzarella cheese: 2 cups, shredded
  • Olive oil: 1 tablespoon
  • Salt and pepper: to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook pasta according to package directions. Drain.
  3. Brown ground beef in a skillet. Drain excess grease.
  4. Add onion and garlic. Cook until softened.
  5. Stir in tomato sauce. Simmer for 10 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.
  6. In a bowl, mix ricotta, egg, and Parmesan cheese.
  7. Combine cooked pasta, meat sauce, and ricotta mixture.
  8. Pour into a baking dish.
  9. Top with mozzarella cheese.
  10. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden and bubbly.
