Description

Enjoy a comforting and simple Asian Beef Dumpling Potsticker Soup, a dish rich in culinary heritage and symbolizing togetherness. Potstickers, known for their crispy bottoms, originated from a delightful kitchen accident.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp grated fresh ginger
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 3040 round dumpling wrappers
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 1 cup chopped bok choy
  • Salt to taste
  • Dipping sauce (soy sauce, vinegar, chili oil)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine ground beef, onion, garlic, ginger, soy sauce, sesame oil, and black pepper. Mix well to create the beef potsticker filling.
  2. Place about 1 teaspoon of filling onto the center of each dumpling wrapper. Moisten the edges with water and fold in half, pressing to seal. You can create pleats for a traditional potsticker look.
  3. Heat vegetable oil in a large non-stick skillet over medium-high heat. Arrange dumplings in a single layer, ensuring they don’t touch.
  4. Cook for 2-3 minutes until the bottoms are golden brown and crispy, creating your beef potstickers.
  5. Carefully add chicken broth to the skillet (it will steam). Cover and simmer for 5-7 minutes, or until the dumplings are cooked through and the liquid is mostly absorbed.
  6. Stir in bok choy and cook for another 1-2 minutes until wilted. Season with salt to taste.
  7. Serve the Asian beef dumplings hot, with your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the beef potsticker filling.
  • Ensure your skillet is truly non-stick to achieve perfectly crispy bottoms for your potstickers.
  • Adjust the amount of ginger and garlic to your preference in the Asian beef dumplings.
