Instructions
- Separate the onion slices and place them in a large bowl.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, egg, milk, salt, and pepper until a smooth batter forms.
- Dip the onion slices into the batter, coating them evenly.
- In a large skillet, heat 1/2 inch of vegetable oil over medium-high heat.
- Working in batches, fry the battered onion slices for 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden brown.
- Drain the fried fritters on a paper towel-lined plate.
- Serve the Amish Onion Fritters warm, with your favorite dipping sauce on the side.
